Lions Compete at ITA Super Regionals

Sophomore Sasha Wood advances to Round of 16, Akanksha Bhan and Jennifer Kerr compete at ITA Super Regionals.
PRINCETON, N.J.—Three Columbia women's tennis players—sophomore Sasha Wood and seniors Jennifer Kerr and Akanksha Bhan--competed at this past weekend's ITA Super Northeast Regional event held at Princeton on Friday through Sunday.
Wood ended up advancing to the Round of 16. She defeated Yale's Caroline Dunleavy 7-6 (2), 7-6 (2) to advance to the second round where she dropped a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 decision to Penn's Sabine Rutauka.
Bhan and Kerr both lost first round decisions. Bhan dropped a hard-fought 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 decision to Princeton's Brianna Shvets. Kerr lost to Princeton's Daria Frayman, who ended up winning the tournament.
The doubles duo of Wood and sophomore Julia Haynes did not compete.
Columbia is back in action when it competes at the Brown Hidden Duals in Providence, R.I. on Friday-Sunday, Oct. 29-31.
