WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW...
HONORING THE SENIORS
Prior to Sunday's contest, Columbia will honor the 10 members of the senior class in a special ceremony. Representing the Class of 2022 will be Isabella Collins, Alexa Conomikes, Emma Domich, Kelsey Farkas, Brooke Gasser, Amanda Jordan, Emily Maclean, Jaimie McCormick, Alana Palomino and Allison Smith. As a group, this class has helped Columbia earn its first wins against ranked opponents in 2019 and was vital in its 6-0 start - the best in program history - in 2021. Additonally, the Lions will welcome back Grace Payne and Helen Sayegh from the class of 2021.
COLUMBIA'S STATUS
The Lions earned their first win in over a month after topping Dartmouth last Saturday. Columbia closed the weekend with a heartbreaking defeat at UNH Sunday after seeing the Wildcats erased a two-goal deficit in the fourth quarter and go on to win just before time expired in the first overtime.
PENN'S STATUS
The Quakers also split last weekend, picking up a 3-1 win over Yale at home before falling, 1-0, to No. 23 Delaware. All seven of Penn's losses have come to ranked opponents this season. Meghan Ward leads the team with five goals and two assists for 12 points. Sabien Paumen has started all 13 contests in net and boasts a .677 save percentage and 2.43 GAA with a pair of shutouts.
INSIDE THE SERIES - PENN
Columbia is 12-12 against the Quakers all-time. The schools have traded wins and losses over the past four meetings with Columbia edging Penn, 6-5 in overtime, in 2019. In that last matchup, the Lions came back from two down to take a 5-4 lead - only to see the Quakers tie it up with 40 seconds in regulation. Ellie Decker then won it in overtime for her first collegiate goal. Columbia and Penn have needed extra time in 10 of their previous contests.
RIDER'S STATUS
The Broncs wrap up their regular season this weekend against Sacred Heart before coming to Northern Manhattan. Rider alternated 2-1 decisions last week, falling at Wagner and topping St. Francis (Pa.) Sunday on the program's senior day. Julia Divorra has 12 goals and five assists for 29 points, while Carly Brosious is right behind her with 10 goals and Tess Van Ommeren has dished out a team-best eight assists as well. Brooke Golbeski has started the last four in the cage and has a 1.85 GAA with a .667 save percentage.
INSIDE THE SERIES - RIDER
Columbia and Rider have split the previous eight meetings with four wins apiece. The schools have not squared off since 2016 when the Lions earned a 4-3 overtime triumph.
