PRINCETON, NJ -- Junior diver
Jonathan Suckow dominated the three meter event (405.80) as the Columbia men's swim and dive team competed on the second day of the Big Al Invite. Suckow remains undefeated through five meets, claiming the top spot in all events entered this season.
Junior transfer
Nick Leavell earned a tenth place finish (297.75) in his first Big Al appearance, earning a spot in the finals as one of the invite's top 12 competitors.
"This was another outstanding day for the divers; a meet like this is a real test in every way," reflected head diving coach Scott Donie. "Events like this have extremely long preliminary contests and very high-quality diving across-the-board. We are very proud of how everyone performed."
From the pool, Columbia collected a 12th and 13th place finish in the first event- the 200 medley relay.

Jonas Kistorp, and
Thomas Shepanzyk finished in 1:28.48 followed by
Josh Cho,
Michael Chang,
Ray Yang, and
Noah Czelusta (1:31.02).
Sophomore
Stanford Li swam for a fourth place finish in the 400 IM (3:53.03), dropping nearly two seconds from his preliminary time before Kistorp followed with a fourth place finish of his own in the next event, the 100 butterfly, touching the wall in 47.31 (D1B). The sophomore contributed an additional 14 points with a fifth place finish in the 100 back (48.46).
Demir secured an individual fifth place finish in the 100 breast (53.82, D1B) behind teammate
Michael Chang in fourth (53.77, D1B) and a seventh place result in the 200 free (1:39.27). Demir, Li,
Kyle Won, and
Seungjoon Ahn concluded day two in the 800 free relay. Columbia's A team claimed fifth in 6:37.76.
The Big Al Invite will conclude tomorrow, Sunday, Dec. 5 at Princeton University. Preliminaries are scheduled for 9:00 a.m. followed by finals at 5:00 p.m..
