NEW YORK — Director of Cross Country/Track & Field
Daniel Ireland announced, on Monday, Feb. 15, the hiring of
Tyree Price as Columbia Track & Field's new Assistant Coach, primarily focusing on jumps.

Tyree Price as a member of our Track & Field and Cross Country coaching staff," said Ireland. "Coach Price brings a wealth of knowledge to the program and he is a veteran coach that has had great success across all levels. I am excited for our student athletes to have this new leader and the opportunity this provides for their continued development and success."

Price comes to Columbia after spending seven seasons at Bethune-Cookman where he served as the jumps coach. During his seven seasons at Bethune-Cookman, Price coached numerous All-Americans and sent many student-athletes to both the Indoor and Outdoor National Championships.

In his more recent season at Bethune-Cookman, Coach Price guided Monae' Nichols to personal records in the Long Jump (6.44m) and Triple Jump (12.81m). Nichols was ranked eighth in the Long Jump and became a Second Team All-American. That same season Coach Price was named USTFCCCA Women's South Regional Assistant Coach of the Year.Â

Price was a member of the SC State University track & field team for four years (1995-98), and also was a member of the SC State University football team (1995). Price received his Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Pre-Med from South Carolina State in 1998.

In addition to his degree from SC State, the Summerville, S.C. native has a Master's of Science Degree in Sport Management/Sport Administration from Southern New Hampshire University in 2015, he also received his Certification in Strength and Conditioning (NCACE) in 2018, and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
