Former NFL and Lions star will serve as color commentator on Columbia Football broadcasts this season.
NEW YORK—Former NFL and Lions football star Josh Martin '13CC will serve as the color commentator on Columbia Football broadcasts this fall, the athletic department announced. Beginning with Saturday's season opener against Marist, Martin will handle color commentary, game analysis and join play-by-play Lance Medow in the broadcast booth.
In addition to his color analyst duties with Columbia Football, Martin will also work with CBS Sports.
A seven-year NFL veteran as a defensive end and outside linebacker, Martin saw action with the Kansas City Chiefs (2013-14), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2015), Indianapolis Colts (2015), New York Jets (2015-19), and New Orleans Saints (2019-20). During his NFL career, Martin made 86 career tackles and 2.5 sacks. His most productive year came with the New York Jets when he finished with 43 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
Martin played football at Columbia from 2009-12. A three-time All-Ivy League selection from 2010-12, Martin made 140 career tackles (85 solo), registered 25 tackles for loss for 133 yards, ranked third in school history in sacks with 18.0, ranks first in school history in quarterback hurries, and recovered five fumbles. In 2010, he led the league in fumble recoveries with three in 2010 and served as team captain as a senior in 2012. He also tied a school record with two 3.0 sack games. Martin earned a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology in spring 2013.
Originally from Aurora, Colo., Martin created Making America, a video series that brings people to the table for conversations on social matters. He also writes a blog and hosts a podcast on his website https://joshmartin95.com/. Martin remains active in the New York City community in a variety of ways.
On Monday, Columbia Athletics announced that three of its football games will be televised live on SportsNet NY (SNY): vs. Marist (Sept. 18), at Princeton (Oct. 2), vs. Penn (Oct.16). All five home can be accessed on ESPN+.
