No. 5 Columbia Gets Set for Senior Day Friday vs. No. 9 Penn

Habiba Mohamed, Pranjali Sharma to be honored before the match
NEW YORK — Senior Day will be hosted by the No. 5 Columbia women's squash team (6-3, 3-1 Ivy) on Friday, as the Lions play in their home finale against No. 9 Penn (7-5, 1-2 Ivy). The match will be held at the SL Green StreetSquash Center with a scheduled start time of 4 p.m. ET.

SENIOR RECOGNITION
Columbia's senior class consisting of Habiba Mohamed and Pranjali Sharma will be honored prior to the start of the match. Mohamed joined the Lions in 2017 and was a 2020 First Team All-Ivy League and First Team All-American. Sharma joined the Lions in 2018 as the fifth-ranked player on the All India Ranking (SRFI) for U19s.

The Lions took a split of its two road matches last weekend, defeating No. 11 Dartmouth in Hanover, 8-1, after being handed their first Ivy loss the day prior at No. 1 Harvard. The Lions overpowered the Big Green early on with Farida Mohamed, Erica McGillicuddy and Bunny Fox sweeping their duals to race out to a 3-0 lead. The rest of the lineup went on to win key points in clutch moments, as Elizabeth Lentz, Ellie McVeigh and Sarah Cao all won five-game decisions.
SUCCESS AT THE TOP
Lions competing in the top three of Columbia's lineup are a combined 24-3 this season, including a combined 16-1 in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. The majority of those victories have come from Farida Mohamed, Habiba Mohamed and Simmi Chan, who are a combined 18-2 in matches this season. The Mohamed sisters have combined to go 12-1 with senior Habiba Mohamed leading the way at 6-0.
ABOUT PENN
The Quakers will be playing their third straight match on the road after falling to No. 2 Trinity and No. 4 Yale last weekend by identical scores of 7-2. Three of their last four matches have come against teams ranked within the top five of the CSA. Friday's match against Columbia will add to that total, making it four of their last five.
Columbia is 3-11 all-time against Penn but has had the better of the series recently. The Lions have won two of their last three matchups against the Quakers, including a 5-4 victory at the 2020 CSA Team Nationals. In fact, Columbia has met up with Penn each of the last two seasons at the CSA Tournament, winning both times. Each of the last six matches between the two teams have been tight, ending in scores of either 6-3 or 5-4.
