Keane to Represent United States at FISU America Games

Archery competition goes from Oct. 21-23 in Merida, Mexico

NEW YORK — Senior archer Sachiko Keane is set to represent the United States and Columbia at the 2022 FISU America Games, which are off and running down in Merida, Mexico.

An All-American archer, Keane will compete October 21-23 at Anahuac Mayab University in Merida. After a practice session on Friday, competitors will go through a Qualifying Series Saturday morning, followed by Team Rounds in the afternoon. Sunday, Individual and Mixed Team Rounds begin at 8 a.m. local time. The awards ceremony is set for that day at 3 p.m.

Keane was the 2022 Collegiate Compound Indoor National Champion for the nationally recognized Lions. She was one of three archers named to Team USA for the World University Games, earned a spot on the 2022 USA Archery Team and won the Compound USA Archery Junior Title. As a first-year in 2019-20, Keane was an All-American and earned the Collegiate Compound Indoor National Championship with a record score of 1,171. She was also the 2020 JOAD Compound Junior Women's Indoor champion.

The National Council for Educational Sports of Mexico (CONDDE), the Autonomous University of Yucatan (UADY), and FISU America are the event organizers in Merida. The first edition of the FISU America Games took place back in 2018 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, also with 13 countries, and following over two years of pandemic challenges, student-athletes are now able to return to compete in Mexico.
