NEW YORK – Columbia volleyball (4-13, 1-7) hosted Cornell (4-13, 2-6) for its Dig Pink match on Saturday afternoon in support of the Side-Out foundation. The Lions were defeated by the Big Red 3-0.
In 10 years, Dig Pink has raised more than $15 million dollars for the Side-Out foundation metastatic breast cancer clinical trials and created a community of advocates more than 9,000 teams strong.

GAME ACTION
In a match where all three sets were decided by two points, Cornell came out on top. The Lions started strong, building a 15-9 lead in the first set. Later in the set,
Eva Atkins recorded a kill from Candence Gronski, making it 23-19 in favor of Columbia. From there, the Big Red ripped off a 7-1 run, winning the set 26-24.
In the second set, it was Columbia mounting the comeback effort. Cornell led 15-10 before the Lions scored six unanswered points.
Noelle Foster and
Vanessa Pan capped the spurt with a kill and a service ace, respectively. The Lions grew their advantage to five points, leading 21-16. Another clutch late run from Cornell made it 24-23 in favor of the Big Red. Cornell went on to win 27-25.
The Lions were up 13-9 in the third set before Cornell took a one-point edge with a 5-0 run. There were six lead changes in the final set. The teams fought hard for that set point.
Aidan Conner came up with a big time kill, keeping the Lions alive when they were trailing 27-26. The Big Red scored the final two points, taking the set 29-27.
