First Lion to earn multiple MBWA honors since 2016-17
NEW YORK – A day after being named Ivy League Player of the Week for a second week in a row, Columbia's Kaitlyn Davis also repeated as the Met Basketball Writers Association Women's Div. I Player of the Week. The MBWA announced its honorees for games played Jan. 24-30 on Tuesday morning.
Davis becomes the first Lion to earn two MBWA selections in one season since Camille Zimmerman '18CC earned the distinction twice on her way to being named the 2016-17 All-Met Women's Div. I Player of the Year. Davis picked up her fourth Ivy League Player of the Week nod on Monday, which is also the most by a Lion since Zimmerman collected five in 2016-17.
The Met Basketball Writers Association encompasses 21 New York City Metropolitan area schools across NCAA Div. I. Those schools include Army West Point, Columbia, Fairfield, Fairleigh Dickinson, Fordham, Hofstra, Iona, LIU, Manhattan, Marist, Monmouth, NJIT, Rider, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, St. Francis, St. John's, Saint Peter's, Seton Hall, Stony Brook and Wagner.

The Norwalk, Connecticut native started her week with a third consecutive double-double, recording 16 points, 12 boards and a career-high four blocks to boost the Lions to their first victory over Penn since 2011. Columbia then traveled to Dartmouth to take on the Big Green over the weekend, where Davis scored a game-high 20 points to go with seven rebounds two blocks and two steals. The Lions were victorious, 65-46.
Davis shot an efficient 17-for-25 (.680) on the week and was a perfect 7-for-7 to start Saturday's game at Dartmouth. She now ranks No. 6 in the Ivy League in scoring (13.8), No. 3 in rebounding (9.2), No. 3 in field goal percentage (.488) and No. 3 in blocks (1.7). In Ivy play, Davis leads all players at 11.8 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.
Columbia enters the week 6-0 in the Ivy League for the first time. The team's 15-3 overall record is also a program best through 18 games.
Winners of seven straight, the Lions will travel to Penn (7-11, 2-4 Ivy) and Princeton (14-4, 6-0 Ivy) this weekend. They'll visit the Quakers on Friday for a 6 p.m. tip at the Palestra. Saturday's game against the Tigers is set for 5 p.m. ET.
