Hall earns Academic All-Ivy honors
PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia men's squash senior Velavan Senthilkumar has been named First Team All-Ivy League for the third time in his career. The league office announced its complete postseason men's squash honors and awards Wednesday morning.
Senithilkumar, who also earned the honors in both 2018 and 2019, becomes just the third player in program history to be named All-Ivy League three times. He joins Ramit Tandon (2012-15) and Osama Khalifa (2015-18) on the distinguished list.
A native of Salem, India, Senthilkumar was Columbia's top player in every match he competed in this season. He went 5-5 in the No. 1 position, earning victories over opponents from Western Ontario (Nov. 13), Bates (Jan. 11), Yale (Jan. 16), Dartmouth (Jan. 28) and Rochester (Feb. 12). Four of his five victories came in dominant three-game fashion.
Additionally, senior Callan Hall was named Academic All-Ivy League. The award recognizes one player from each of the league's eight men's squash programs for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments. Hall carries a 3.60 as an electrical engineering major in the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science. On the squash courts, Hall went 6-5 this season playing mostly in the No. 2 matches. He was 1-1 at the No. 1 and 5-4 at the No. 2.
No. 6 Columbia will compete at CSA Team Nationals this weekend, Feb. 18-20. which will be hosted by Penn.
