The Columbia stars produced individual third place results in Cambridge.
Cambridge, MA -- Sparks flew at Blodgett Pool as Columbia's Aziza Ganihanova and Mary Pruden swam for third place finishes in their respective events.
The 2022 Ivy League Women's Swim and Dive Championships will conclude tomorrow in Cambridge. Consistent with the previous days, preliminaries will begin at 11:00 A.M. with final heats beginning at 6:00 P.M.
Ganihanova shaved 11 seconds off her preliminary time to claim third in the third day's opening event, the 1,000 freestyle. Senior captain Pruden followed with an impressive performance of her own taking third in the 400 IM with a NCAA B-qualifying score of 4:15.00. Teammate Julia Unas competed in the event's C finals, placing sixth (4:30.43).
Columbia produced strong performances from the B and C finals of latter events as first-year Allison Martin took the top spot in 200 IM C finals. Senior Emily Wang collected an eighth place result in the 100 fly B finals (55.26), just ahead of junior Jessica Penn who took fourth in the C final.
Sophomore Callie Breiter and junior Olivia Jubin competed in the B finals of the 200 free, earning fifth (1:50.18) and eighth (1:50.30), respectively. In the following event, rookie Ashley Hu snagged third (1:03.30) in the 100 breast B final. Pruden completed her second event of the evening in the 100 back, claiming third in the B final (55.62). Teammate Riley Pujadas followed with a second place result in the C final (56.47).
Off the three meter springboard, senior Briget Rosendahl landed in seventh, amassing a 247.95 score. Divers will contend for the A final title tomorrow evening.
"What I am most impressed with is how gracious and grateful our women are," noted head dive coach Scott Donie. "Though it wasn't our best day, we gave it our all and I'm so proud of how we carried ourselves right to the very end."
Ganihanova, Walker, Wang, and MacDonald closed out the night with a sixth place finish in the competitive 400 medley relay (3:44.25).
