NEW YORK -- The Columbia men's tennis team earned a runner-up result at the 2022 ECAC Indoor Championships, this weekend in Ithaca. The Lions defeated league-rivals
Dartmouth and
Cornell before falling to No. 16 Harvard, 4-2, in the championship match.
For the fifth time in six matches, Columbia gained an early lead off the doubles point.
Henry Ruger and
Jayden Templeman earned the Lions' first win, defeating the doubles team of Harris Walker and Ronan Jachuk, 6-3.
Max Westphal and partner
Theo Winegar secured the doubles point by defeating Daniel Milavsky and Brian Shi, 7-5.
Harvard earned its first point through Walker's straight set victory over #77
Hugo Hashimoto from the second spot. Horvat countered for Columbia, defeating Steven Sun 6-2, 7-5.
The Lions' 2-1 lead fell soon after, as the Crimson collected wins from fifth, third, and fourth positions to take the match.
Columbia will continue on the road, meeting #23 North Carolina in Chapel Hill on Saturday, the 23rd at 1:00 P.M.
