No. 16 Columbia Suffers Setback to No. 66 USF

Kotzen and Hashimoto headline the Lions.

Tampa, FL -- The No. 16 Columbia men's tennis team dropped a close match to the No. 66 University of South Florida, 4-3, during a midweek road match in Tampa. Despite suffering a setback in the overall match, #9 Alex Kotzen and #122 Hugo Hashimoto were victorious in both the doubles and singles events.

As a team, Kotzen and Hashimoto defeated USF's Chase Ferguson and Manuel Goncalves, 6-4. In the singles event, Kotzen battled to a 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-4, victory over Ivan Yatsuk. From the second position, Hashimoto secured a straight-sets win over Chase Ferguson (6-0, 6-2).

Austen Huang collected Columbia's final victory of the outing, defeating Sergio Gomez Montesa, 6-4, 6-3.

Columbia will return home to open Ivy League play against Harvard on Saturday, April 9.
