Football Begins Spring Practice on Friday

Lions to practice 12 times between March 25 and April 23; Spring Game set for Saturday, April 23 at Noon.
NEW YORK—Columbia Football returns to the gridiron for the first of 12 spring practices on Friday afternoon at Baker Athletics Complex at either Robert K. Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium or the Bubble at Baker Indoor Practice Facility. Friday's practice begins at 3:45 p.m. ET.

The Lions will practice 12 times between March 25 and their annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 23. All practices will take place at either Robert K. Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium and/or the Bubble at Baker Indoor Practice Facility. All practices are open to the public.
Columbia's spring football game is scheduled for Saturday, April 23 at Robert K. Kraft Field. Kickoff is at noon. The program's spring cookout will be held directly following the scrimmage. Admission to the spring game is free.
Columbia concluded its 2021 season with a 7-3 overall record and finished tied for fourth in the Ivy League with a 4-3 conference record. The seven overall wins rank as the third most at Columbia since the school joined the Ivy League in 1956 and rank as the ninth most overall season wins in school history. For the third time in the last four seasons, Columbia went an undefeated 3-0 in non-conference games. The Lions also registered a 4-1 home record with the .800 home winning percentage ranking as the 11th best total in school history. And, the Lions finished with a winning record for the third time in the last four seasons for the first time since 1945-48. The 24 wins during those four years also are the most in 73 years (1945-48).
Columbia returns 18 starters (10 on offense and eight on defense) and a host of additional players who saw extensive action during the 2021 season. As a whole, the Lions return 47 total lettermen (players who saw game action in 2021).
Players returning who started games in 2021 include quarterback Joe Green, running back Ryan Young, wide receiver Ernest Robertson, wide receiver Marcus Libman, wide receiver Bryson Canty, wide receiver Wills Meyer, wide receiver Jack Ertz, tight end Luke Painton, tight end Dominic Busby, offensive lineman Stew Newblatt, offensive lineman Will Hamilton, offensive lineman Zach Minch, offensive lineman Andrew Pruske, offensive lineman Matt Klenk, offensive lineman David Sawyer, defensive lineman Mitch Moyer, defensive lineman Ben Corniello, defensive lineman Thomas Thibault, linebacker Scott Valentas, linebacker CJ Brown, defensive back Fara'ad McCombs, defensive back Railan Peace, defensive back Bryan Bell-Anderson, and defensive back Seth Parker. Green, Young, Valentas, and returning placekicker Alex Felkins earned All-Ivy League honors, while Green was the league's Rookie of the Year.
Columbia will officially announce its 2022 fall schedule, television schedule and ticket availability at a later date.
