Davis, Hsu Headline Columbia's All-Ivy Selections

All-Ivy duo leads Columbia to its best regular season in program history

NEW YORK — The Ivy League announced its postseason women's basketball honors and awards on Wednesday, naming Columbia's Kaitlyn Davis and Abbey Hsu to the All-Ivy League teams. Davis was a First Team selection, while Hsu garnered Second Team honors.

"I think Kaitlyn and Abbey are very deserving of being named to the All-Ivy teams," said sixth-year head coach Megan Griffith, who will take her team to the Ivy Tournament as the No. 2 seed this weekend. "I've said it before, but KD is a unicorn out there. She can play every position for us if we need her to and affects the game in multiple ways. If you ask me, Abbey is the best shooter in our league. I think she was deserving of a First Team selection but the votes fell how they did. I know this will drive her for the weekend and give her something to prove."

The All-Ivy teams are selected by the league's eight head coaches. The top five vote-getters earn first-team accolades, followed by the next five on the second team. Anyone who receives a first or second team vote earns honorable mention status.

Davis was a stat stuffer all season to pick up her first All-Ivy accolades. She started all 26 games and averaged 13.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.3 blocks. All of those numbers ranked top 12 in the league, including No. 10 in scoring and No. 3 in rebounds and blocked shots. The 6-foot junior was also third in the Ivies in shooting percentage (.482) and racked up nine double-doubles, including three-straight in Ivy wins over Cornell, Brown and Penn. The Norwalk, Connecticut native was a four-time Ivy League Player of the Week – more selections than any opposing competitor – and two-time Met Basketball Writers Association Player of the Week. In league play, she was an even bigger presence down low, averaging 9.2 boards and 1.5 blocks.

Hsu was one of the NCAA's best 3-point shooters and one of the top scorers in the Ivy League all season long. The sophomore out of Parkland, Florida was 91-of-237 from beyond the arc this season, shattering Columbia's single-season record for made threes (73) and ranking top 10 in the NCAA this season in 3-pointers made, attempted and made per game (3.50). Her 91 threes are currently third in the Ivy League single-season record books, eight behind the record of 99 set by Harvard's Katie Benzan (2017-18). Hsu was also highly efficient in her shooting, hitting 38.4 percent from the perimeter, which ranks No. 2 in the Ivy League and top 60 in the NCAA. Her scoring average (16.3) ranks No. 3 while her overall shooting percentage (.407) is top five in the Ivies. She scored in double figures all but three times this season, including eight 20-point games and a season-high 27 in a thrilling home win over Delaware (Dec. 2).

This year's honors give Hsu back-to-back All-Ivy nods. She was also a second team honoree as a rookie in 2019-20.

After a record-setting regular season, Columbia (21-5, 12-2 Ivy) will take on Yale (16-10, 9-5 Ivy) in the Ivy League Tournament semifinals on Friday. Tip-off between the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds is set for 7:30 p.m. ET at Harvard's Lavietes Pavilion.
