PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia's Raquel Reyes has been named the Ivy League Softball Co-Pitcher and Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Reyes made just one appearance last week but turned in one for the record books. The sophomore out of Placentia, California took the circle to start the final game of a weekend series at Brown and tossed the fourth no-hitter in Columbia softball history. Reyes retired the first nine batters and the final nine batters in order, surrendering just one walk while striking out four in the 83-pitch performance. The Lions won the game, 1-0, to win the series.
Reyes' no-hitter was the first by a Lion since Maggie Johnson no-hit Princeton on April 24, 2011. She joined Johnson, Maiya Chard-Yaron (2006) and Laura Grant (2001) as the four Lions in program history to throw a no-hitter.
Both the Pitcher and Rookie of the Week awards are the first of Reyes' collegiate career. She is the first Pitcher of the Week for the Lions since Alexa Pinarski, who was also tabbed both Pitcher and Rookie of the Week back on April 29, 2019.
Additionally, first year Jordan Hill and senior Abby Stuart were named to this week's Ivy League Honor Roll. Hill posted a 2-1 record and 1.47 ERA in 19.0 innings last week, which included a three-hit shutout and career-high 10 strikeouts in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Monmouth. Stuart went 6-for-14 (.429) at the dish through four games to increase her team-leading batting average to .380, which ranks No. 3 in the Ivy League.
The Lions visit Fairfield in their final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. ET.
