Lacrosse Suffers Loss to San Diego State

Lions unable to contend with West Coast visitors.

NEW YORK -- Junior goalkeeper Madison Levinson turned away five shots over 30 minutes as the Columbia lacrosse team (2-8) endured a tough 20-6 loss to visiting San Diego State University. Levinson appeared in the second half, making five saves on eleven shots.

Peyton Lill was the lone Lion to find the back of the net multiple times, scoring twice on two shots. Teammates Kate Kelly, Noelle DeMarinis, Dani Falcone, and Rachel Graff produced one goal a piece.

First-year Simone Koryszewski earned the start in net, recording five saves with 14 goals against. Columbia's defensive line of Julie Griswold, Adele Swanson, and Justine Decker combined for five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.

San Diego State was led by Tewaaraton Award Watch List honoree Deanna Balsama whose four goals and three assists for seven points paced the Aztecs. Sam Horan and Avery Dyer split time in goal, the former recording an impressive 0.69 save percentage.

Columbia will shift its focus to the remainder of its Ivy League schedule, traveling to Dartmouth next Saturday for a 3:30 P.M. start.
