NEW YORK, NY -- Powered by singles play, the No. 25 Columbia men's tennis team defeated Ivy League rival, No. 39 Princeton, 4-3 at LifeTime Fitness in Westchester. Despite dropping the doubles point, No. 17 Alex Kotzen, Henry Ruger, Austen Huang, and Roko Horvat collected singles wins to secure the match.

The nationally ranked No. 31 doubles team of Justin Barki and Ryan Seggerman defeated No. 47 Max Westphal and Theo Winegar, 6-4. Karl Poling and Damian Rodriquez earned a 6-3 win over Huang and partner Hugo Hashimoto.

Playing from the top position, No. 17 Alex Kotzen further expanded the Lions lead via a ranked victory over No. 48 Ryan Seggerman. Kotzen collected a straight sets win, 7-6, 6-4.

Undeterred, Princeton came roaring back with a pair of victories on the second and third court. Barki conquered Hashimoto ( 6-2, 6-7, 6-1) while Poling defeated Max Westphal, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

Tied at 3-3, the match came down to a tightly contested battle on the sixth court. Roko Horvat took the first set from Bill Duo, 6-3, before Duo claimed the second 5-7. With the contest on the Lion, Horvat successfully overcame Duo in a tiebreak third set, 7 -6.
