Lightweights Win Subin Cup, Sweep Afternoon Races With Dartmouth

Columbia Lightweights claim last three races of the day, Navy wins Lightweight WIT Cup, Northeastern Takes Women’s Woodbury Cup.
LEONIA, N.J.—The No. 8 ranked Columbia Lightweights won their three final races of the day and the First Varsity 8 captured the Subin Cup with a head-to-head victory over No. 9 ranked Dartmouth Saturday at Overpeck Park in Leonia, N.J. Columbia's Women's Rowing team also competed in four races on the day.
Columbia hosted a regatta for the second consecutive Saturday at Overpeck Park. Columbia's Heavyweight races against Penn, Princeton, and Rutgers were canceled due to COVID-19 protocols.
In the Subin Cup, Columbia's First Varsity 8 defeated Dartmouth by three seconds in a head-to-head race. The Lions finished the course in 5:51.143, defeating the visiting Big Green, which finished in 5:54.595. The Lions went 1-2 in the Third Varsity 8 race with two boats and claimed the Second Varsity 8 race in 6:08.758.
The No. 2 ranked Navy lightweight team captured the WIT Cup with a four-second victory over Columbia in a head-to-head First Varsity 8 race. Navy finished the course in 5:41.646 with Columbia behind in 6:45.180.
On the women's side, Columbia's Third Varsity eight was victorious in a three-boat race against Navy and Northeastern with a winning time of 6:54.797. The Lions settled for second place in each of the other four races, including the Woodbury Cup First Varsity 8 race, which Northeastern captured in 6:26.435. The Lions finished three seconds behind Northeastern in 6:29.368.
