NEW YORK—Sophomore men's golfer Nathan Han and senior women's golfers Alexis Florio and Jennifer Wang were named recipients of the annual William Terminello Award for their respective squads, Director of Golf Rich Mueller and Head Women's Coach Amy Weeks announced on Wednesday. The William Terminello Award annually honors each team's Most Valuable Player.
In 2021-22, Han becomes the third player in program history to be named the Ivy League Player of the Year following Brandon Jowers (2014) and Harrison Shih (2016). A First Team All-Ivy League and Academic All-Ivy League honoree, Han completed the 2022 Ivy League Championship in fourth place at eight-over-par 75-72-74-221. The awards cap off a successful season for Han that saw him set Columbia's season scoring record (71.96) and lead the team in scoring average, most top-5 performances (four), most top-10 finishes (seven), top-25 finishes (10), and total par/under-par rounds (13). He shot a career-low 66 at the Columbia Spring Invitational, which ranks as the fourth lowest round in school history, finished second at the Columbia Spring Invitational (+1), third at the Savannah Intercollegiate (-6), eighth at the Doc Gimmer (-1), ninth at Cornell Invitational (+1) and eighth at the Princeton Invitational (Even).
A team co-captain in 2021-22, Florio concludes her career ranked No. 2 in school history in both career low scoring average vs. par (4.10) and career low scoring average (75.90). She has led the Lions in scoring average in two of her three seasons at Columbia. Her season-average of 76.17 in 2021-22 ranks as the second-highest on the squad and as the eighth lowest in school history, and her 52 season birdies rank fourth in school history for a season. Wang also garners Academic All-Ivy League honors for the second time in her career. She registered her second career runner-up performance at the Ivy League Championship after shooting a five-over-par 76-69-76-221. Her 221 ranks as the third-lowest 54-hole score overall in school history and she became the first player in school history to have two top-2 finishes in the Ivy League Championship. With her three-under-par 69 in the second round, Wang tied a school record for lowest round score and lowest round versus par (-3) in an Ivy League Championship.
The 2019 Ivy League runner-up, 2019 First Team All-Ivy League selection, and two-time WGCA All-America Scholar, Wang concludes the 2021-22 season with a 76.33 stroke average (1,832 strokes in 24 rounds), one top-5, three top-10, and six top-25 finishes.
