Columbia Athletics to Form New Spirit Band

New group to perform at future athletic events
NEW YORK - Columbia Athletics is launching a new spirit band comprised of Columbia and Barnard students to perform at Columbia Athletics contests and events. Under the leadership of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education, the new band will provide a fun, engaging, inclusive and family-friendly atmosphere at select Columbia Athletics contests and events, while also providing Columbia students an opportunity to develop their musical talents with performance in a public forum.
The new Columbia band will be led and managed by a band director selected and compensated by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education. This professional band director will oversee this group with direct leadership from the Columbia Athletics Marketing office and support from the Columbia University Band Alumni Association.
Performance tryouts will take place on a date to be determined; all interested Columbia students are welcome to audition. Evaluations will also aid the band director to assess practice routines and performances for events.
All students interested in joining this group or those seeking more information are encouraged to fill out the interest form by clicking here. More information for the band will be announced at a later date.
