No. 25 Columbia will race against No. 3 Yale and No. 19 Penn in Derby, Connecticut, on Saturday for the Blackwell Cup. The Blackwell family placed the cup into competition in 1927. Last year, the Quakers claimed first place in the varsity eight to capture the trophy. Columbia is coming off racing against Princeton, Penn, and Stanford in the Princeton Invite and Childs Cup last weekend.

The Columbia softball team (15-17, 7-5 Ivy), fresh off a series victory at home over Yale, is back on the road for the start of a two-week road trip. This week, the Lions travel to Ithaca for a three-game series against Cornell, starting with a doubleheader Saturday. Game one of the twin billing is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., with game two to follow. The series concludes on Sunday with a 12:30 scheduled start. First-year starting pitcher Mads Lawson made program history on Sunday, becoming the first Columbia pitcher to toss three consecutive complete-game shutouts. Her efforts against the Bulldogs saw her named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week, and on Tuesday, she was named the D1 Softball Mid-Major Freshman of the Week. At the dish, the Lions once again saw their batting average rise. As a team, Columbia is hitting .267 - up 17 points from two weeks ago. Sarah Mikami is starting to heat up. The senior co-captain hit .500 against Yale. In the series, she notched her 100th career base hit and 15th career home run.

The final week of the regular season kicks off Saturday. The Lions are on the road for a pair of crucial contests against Harvard and Dartmouth that could determine the Ivy League Championship. Last weekend, the Lions saw their unbeaten Ivy League run come to an end with a 4-2 loss at Princeton. Overall, Columbia is 14-4 on the year and 4-1 in conference play. Even after falling to the Tigers, the Lions climbed 12 spots into the top-50 of the latest ITA rankings at No. 49. They are one of seven Ivy League teams ranked in the top-75, following Princeton (No. 39) and Yale (No. 40). Saturday's match against the 69th-ranked Crimson is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start. Sunday's dual against the 62nd-ranked Big Green is also scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. A pair of wins would go a long way to earning an at-large berth in the NCAA Championships in May.
