Lions Fall to Boston College in Final Non-Conference Match

Columbia gears up for Ivy League play next week

QUEENS, N.Y.Kiara Robichaud and Harper Justema of Columbia Volleyball both hit above .300 for the Lions in their matchup with the Boston College Eagles on Saturday afternoon. CU dropped the meeting with BC in straight sets.

Robichaud tallied seven kills on 19 total attacks (.316). Justema recorded four kills on nine toal attacks (.444). Maria Milisa was the blocks leader on the day for the Lions with three. Vanessa Pan had seven digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED: After falling into a four-point hole to open the first set, Columbia responded with five unanswered points. Vanessa Pan closed out the Lions' run with two consecutive service aces. Later in the set with Columbia leading 10-9, Boston College ripped off a 9-1 run. The Eagles carried that momentum until the last point, grabbing a 25-9 victory.

The Eagles used a 10-2 rally in the second set to create separation from the Lions. Columbia kept the margin within single-digits until a 3-0 spurt from Boston College towards the end of the set. The Eagles went on to win the set 25-15. Robichaud had three kills in the set.

Boston College began the third set by outscoring Columbia 12-6. The Lions did not go away, hanging around and eventually narrowing the gap to two points. Ahead 18-16, the Eagles put together four straight points. Logan Harlock had the final kill of the day for the Lions, getting the assist from Ruby van der Heide. BC won the set 25-19.
