NEW YORK — Columbia football is wrapping up week three of training camp as they gear up for the upcoming campaign. The Lions' practices included a pair of night scrimmages with officials to simulate game action as they prepare for a primetime matchup at Marist in their season opener.
"We are about halfway through and getting a real assessment of where we are," said Patricia and Shepard Alexander Head Coach of Football
Al Bagnoli. "We have had a lot of new coaches join the staff and I am pleased with how they've meshed and transitioned into our staff. We are progressing and are on schedule and as a staff, we are excited about where we are."
The Lions also announced that
Mitch Moyer,
Stew Newblatt,
Scott Valentas and
Ryan Young will serve as captains Thursday.
The Lions and Red Foxes will meet up on Saturday, September 17, for a 6 p.m. contest in Poughkeepsie. Two weeks later, Columbia opens its home slate against Ivy League rival Princeton on Saturday, October 1.
