Field Hockey Falls to No. 14 Harvard

Columbia refuses to be shutout in Cambridge

Box Score CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – Maya Walker recorded her second penalty stroke goal of the season as the Columbia field hockey team fell in its Ivy League opener, 3-1, at No. 14 Harvard.

The Lions earned the penalty stroke with 1:50 left in regulation. Walker stepped up for the second consecutive game and put the Lions on the board.
 
In goal, sophomore Katie Wimmer made six saves.

The Crimson opened scoring in the first quarter, when Emily Guckian found the back of the net at 5:08. Harvard doubled its lead in the second quarter, capitalizing on a penalty corner opportunity. Guckian provided the assist while Bronte-May Brough found the back of the net.
 
Kate Oliver knocked in another insurance goal in the third quarter.
 
Columbia will continue its weekend swing at No. 22 UMass on Sunday at 1 p.m.
