AMHERST, MASS. – Sophomore goalkeeper
Katie Wimmer turned away a career-high 13 shots on goal in a 3-1 loss to #22 UMass on Sunday. The reigning Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week has now made 57 stops on the year.
The Minutemen struck first, scoring twice in the first half. The Lions, however, rallied in the second half, when junior
Meg Bowen found the back of the net off an assist from classmate Annabelle Brodeur.
Despite the Lions' efforts, UMass was able to record the insurance goal late in the fourth quarter.
Columbia will return home on Saturday, October 1 for a 10:00 A.M. Ivy League matchup against Cornell at the Baker Athletics Complex.
