Han (-1) Impresses as Runner-Up at Georgetown Intercollegiate

Lions conclude a successful fall season

ROCKVILLE, Md. — Columbia men's golf senior Nathan Han finished tied for second to highlight the team's performance at the Georgetown Intercollegiate. The two-day, 54-hole event wrapped up Monday afternoon at Woodmont Country Club.

Han carded five birdies and four bogeys for a final-round 1-under-par 71 on Monday. He began the day with a birdie at the par-4 first and was 2-under on his round following a birdie at the seventh. Back-to-back bogeys at eight and nine gave him an even-par 36 at the turn, but the 2023 Honorable Mention All-American birdied the par-5 10th to get back into red figures, where he stayed the rest of the day.

"Nathan just continues to be an absolute leader on the golf course and continues to prove that he can contend every single week to win," Columbia's Director of Golf Rich Mueller said. "The conditions were really tough and the course was playing extremely difficult this weekend. It was just another very impressive performance from Nathan."

The Lions posted a final-round 311 to finish in ninth at 50-over-par 914. Despite the outcome of the fall's final tournament, Mueller is very pleased with the success the team had this fall and is optimistic about the spring.

"I wish we had ended on a higher note but we had an extraordinary fall," Mueller went on to say. "The guys were great. I'm really proud of everything they've done and, on the flip side, I'm sure everyone is going to be really hungry to come out in the spring and play great."

Mueller's Lions won two tournaments this fall, which included setting a 54-hole team record of 29-under par to capture The Doc Gimmler (Sept. 9-10). After finishing second the following weekend at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate, they won their Columbia Autumn Invitational (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) with a tournament score of 3-under par. Han won The Doc Gimmler individual title and DJ Francey won the individual title at the Ryan T. Lee.

Columbia will host an exhibition against Trinity College Dublin on Friday, October 27. The team's next tournament comes on Feb. 17-18 at The Savannah Intercollegiate in Savannah, Georgia.
