NEW YORK — Four Columbia athletics programs are featured in this week's edition of Lions on the Road. Every week, GoColumbiaLions.com will be using "Lions on the Road" to preview that week's upcoming games and events happening off campus.
WOMEN'S GOLF
The Lions conclude the 2023 fall season this weekend competing in the Lady Blue Hen Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be hosted at Rehoboth Beach Country Club. Leading the way for the Lions through two fall tournaments is Angela Zhang, who is carrying a 75.50 stroke average in four competition rounds. In Columbia's last event, the Yale Invitational (Sept. 30-Oct. 1), Zhang earned a top-15 finish out of 72 players with a single-round score of 3-over-par 75 -- the event was shortened to one round after a rainout that Saturday. Allison Paik earned a top-10 in that event by carding a 2-over 74. The Lions continue their search for their first Ivy League victory this weekend, as they travel to upstate New York for a clash against Cornell. Most recently, Columbia faced off against Penn in Philadelphia, and the Quakers were able to emerge victorious in four sets despite a great game by Ruby van der Heide. The setter double-doubled in the loss, collecting 23 assists, 12 digs, and a career-high six kills. Earlier this season, the Lions lost to the Big Red in four sets at Levien Gymnasium, with Logan Harlock and Eva Atkins both smacking 10 kills.

The Lions (2-6-3, 0-3-1 Ivy) will be looking for some road points in a Sunday matinee at Yale (6-4-2, 1-1-2 Ivy). Columbia is coming off a 1-1 draw last Friday night on Homecoming Weekend against Dartmouth. The Big Green came into the match at the top of the Ivy League table in points and took the lead on a Vasilis Moiras goal in the 63rd minute. The Lions kept fighting and got a much-deserved equalizer. Will DeNight sent a perfect low cross through the area for Joao Lima, who buried it inside the far post in the 79th minute for the eventual 1-1 final. Lima, DeNight and Chad Baker lead the Lions in scoring at three goals apiece. Lima and goalkeeper Michael Collodi were named to this week's Ivy League Honor Roll. Collodi made seven saves in Friday's effort.
