
Columbia Swimming's Emily MacDonald and Adam Wu Compete at Pan American Games

Wu is representing Canada, MacDonald is representing Jamaica in Santiago, Chile
NEW YORK -- Columbia men's swimming and diving's Adam Wu and Columbia women's swimming and diving's Emily MacDonald are competing in the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.
Beginning this past weekend, the Pan American Games is a continental multi-sport event that takes place in the Americas featuring summer sports, in which thousands of athletes participate in a variety of competitions. The event is held every four years in the year before the Summer Olympic Games. It is the second oldest continental games in the world.
MacDonald is representing Jamaica in the competition, competing in the 4x100-free relay, 4x200-free relay, and 4x100 medley relay, along with the 50-free. The 4x100-free relay prelims took place on Saturday, and MacDonald clocked in with a personal best 57.74 in the event. In the second heat of the event which took place this morning, Jamaica finished in sixth place. MacDonald is still slated to compete in the 50-free tomorrow morning, and both remaining relay events will take place Wednesday.
Wu is representing Canada in the competition, competing in the 4x200-free relay, 400-free and 800-free. In the 400-free which took place Saturday Wu won the B-Finals of the event, clocking in with an impressive time of 3:57.85. In the 800-free which just finished up earlier this morning, Wu finished in fifth place in the second prelim heat with a time of 8:18.09. Wu is still slated to compete in the 4x200-free relay tomorrow morning.

The Lions will officially kick off the 2023-24 regular season on Friday, November 3 at Percy Uris Natatorium. The men will take on Penn at noon, and the women will take on Penn later in the evening at 5:00 p.m.
