Field Hockey Downed at No. 13 Harvard on Friday Night

Lions record four shots on goal in loss
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Columbia field hockey was shutout by No. 13 Harvard, 3-0, on Friday evening at Berylson Field.
Captain Sam Petrucco made her first collegiate appearance in the cage for the Lions (3-8, 0-4), replacing starting goalkeeper Katie Wimmer. Petrucco made three saves in her debut in net and kept Harvard (8-3, 4-0) off the scoresheet in the second half.
Harvard got on the board early to take a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the match. Emily Guckian found the back of the net for the Crimson. The Lions did tally more scoring chances in the opening frame, getting two shots on goal compared to Harvard's one.
Bronte-May Brough added a second Harvard goal off a penalty corner two minutes into the second quarter to make it 2-0 Crimson. Harvard gained a 3-0 advantage with 1:26 remaining in the first half when Brough netted her second goal of the match. Guckian had assists on each of Brough's goals. Kate Oliver and Smilla Klas also recorded assists for Harvard.
A scoreless third quarter featured chances for the Lions when they tallied two corners and two shots. Maya Walker had a shot blocked and Kennedy Sholeen got one on frame but it was kept out by Harvard goalkeeper Sophia Castore.
Anabelle Brodeur recorded Columbia's final shot on goal of the game with just over five minutes to go in the match off a penalty corner. Tessa Shahbo and Castore split the halves in the cage for the Crimson and totaled four saves. Harvard outshot Columbia 19-6 (6-4 on goal).
