Fencing Preps for Columbia Invitational Saturday

The Lions will compete against NJIT, Stevens and Johns Hopkins in its lone home competition
NEW YORK — The Columbia fencing teams will host three teams for the Columbia Invitational Saturday, November 18, in the Blue Gym in the Dodge Physical Fitness Center. Stevens, NJIT and Johns Hopkins will make the trip to the Big Apple with the first round of action beginning at noon.
Saturday's meet will be the lone home competition for the Lions this year.
COMPLETE SCHEDULE
Round 1 – 12 p.m.
Columbia vs. Stevens (Blue Gym)
NJIT vs. Johns Hopkins (Fencing Room)
Round 2 – 1:15 p.m.
Columbia vs. NJIT (Blue Gym)

LAST TIME OUT
The Lions combined to go 16-1 at the Western Invitational from November 4-5 in Colorado Springs. The No. 2 men went undefeated at 8-0, while the No. 3 women were 8-1 at the event.
Madison Four-Garcia led the women, posting a 16-1 record over the two-day competition. Mina Yamanaka tied for the team lead with 16 wins in epee. On the men's side, Robert Vidovsky went 11-0 in sabre, while Ethan Kushernik (epee) and Enoch Xiao (foil) posted 13 bout victories.
A LOOK BACK
At last year's Columbia Invite, the women rattled off three dominant victories over the same three schools, while the men went 2-1.
The Lions will host its lone home meet of the year this Saturday, November 18, when they welcome Stevens, NJIT and Johns Hopkins for the Columbia Invitational. The tri-meet will begin at noon in the Dodge Fitness Center.
UP NEXT
Columbia are back in action on January 14 at the Penn State Invitational where the Lions will take on the host Nittany Lions, Haverford (men only), Temple (women only), Duke, Penn and North Carolina.
