PRINCETON, N.J. — Senior punter
William Hughes was named Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week after helping Columbia top Cornell on Saturday. Hughes picks up the honor for the second time this season.
The senior from Fairfax, Virginia, averaged 46.0 yards on five punts against the Big Red. Hughes boomed two kicks over 50 yards, including a long of 59 yards, and pinned the Big Red inside the 20 twice. Additionally, he did not allow a return on any of his attempts to help the Lions win the field position battle.
Hughes ranks No. 6 in the nation in punting average (44.0). which is also the second highest average for the program.
