PRINCETON, N.J. — The Ivy League office named Columbia's Michael Collodi its Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. The senior keeper put on a fantastic performance in his final game as a Lion on Saturday, coming up with 10 saves to lead the team to a scoreless draw against Cornell.
Collodi's 10 saves matched the most in a single match of his collegiate career. It also ties for the most by a keeper in the Ivy League this season and ties for the 15th-most saves in a single game in the NCAA this season. The senior from Frisco, Texas ends his collegiate career with 237 total saves, ranking No. 2 in Columbia men's soccer program history. He climbed from fourth to second on that list on Saturday, passing both Jeff Micheli (1984-87) and Steve McAnulty (1992-95).
The defensive honors are Collodi's second of the season. He was also selected for the Ivy's weekly award September 18. This makes three total weekly honors for the senior in his career, being named Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Sept. 30, 2019. The FC Dallas Academy product is also a two-time All-Ivy League Honorable Mention (2021, 2022).
Columbia concluded the 2023 season with a record of 2-8-4, 0-5-2 Ivy League.
