Volleyball, women's swimming and diving in action
NEW YORK — Columbia volleyball, as well as women's swimming and diving are featured in this week's edition of Lions on the Road. Every week, GoColumbiaLions.com will be using "Lions on the Road" to preview that week's upcoming games and events happening off campus.
VOLLEYBALL
The Lions will close out the 2023 regular season this weekend, with road matchups against Yale and Brown. The Bulldogs remain undefeated in conference play as the regular season comes to a close, and Columbia will look to put an end to that on Friday at 5:00 p.m in New Haven. The Lions' final game of the regular season will come against the 7-5 Bears. Columbia is coming off a tough weekend, dropping games to Penn and Princeton, but the Lions enjoyed Senior Night on Saturday as all seven seniors played the entire duration of the match. Those seniors tallied a whopping 28 kills, 25 digs, 25 assists, and four service aces.
WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
The Lions look to continue their winning ways this Friday, after winning their season opener last weekend against Penn by a score of 159-141. Emily MacDonald and Aziza Ganihanova each won multiple events for the women, helping the squad earn the win. MacDonald excelled in the sprinting events, winning the 50-free and 100-free, with times of 23:31 and 50.79 respectively. Ganihanova won the 200-back with a time of 1:59.91 and then went on to win the 400-IM with a time of 4:22.67. For the divers, Alice Diakova and Macy Pine dominated. Diakova won the 3m dive for the women with a score of 290.03, and Pine won the 1m dive with a score of 291.30. This weekend, the Columbia will take on Yale on Friday at 5:00 p.m. in New Haven.
