COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Columbia sophomore Sydney Sullenberger (compound) and first-year Michelle Ahn (recurve) have been selected to the 2024 United States Archery Team (USAT). Sullenberger and Ahn were each named to one of five in the U21 Division for their respective bows. The full team and divisions were announced by USA Archery earlier this month.
Those selected to the team are chosen based upon their performances in national and USAT Series Events, which include Arizona Cup, Gator Cup, SoCal Showdown and Buckeye Classic as well as the USA Archery Indoor Nationals, JOAD Target Nationals.
This is Sullenberger's second straight year as a member of U21 Compound Women's team and her fourth straight year being selected to the USAT. She had a stellar rookie campaign at Columbia in 2023 in which she earned All-America status. Over the summer, she went on to earn gold in the U21 compound competition at the World Archery Youth Championships in Limerick, Ireland. A week later, she claimed gold in U21 at the 2023 USA Archery JOAD Target Nationals.
No stranger to USAT, Sullenberger was a member both in 2022 and 2021, the same year she earned Cadet U.S. No. 1. She also participated in the 2022 Hyundai Archery World Cup, Stage 1, and was the JOAD Outdoor National Champion (2022, 2016).
Ahn continues a run of selections to the USAT, being named in the U21 Division for three straight years (2022-24) and U18 the two prior (2020-21). Each of the last two years, Ahn has earned gold in her recurve division at the Arizona Cup. She was also a U21 JOAD National Team Gold Medalist in 2022 and has even represented the United States in the Senior Women's Recurve Division. Ahn will shoot in her first collegiate competition for Columbia in January.
The Lions start up the collegiate season at the Easton Youth & Collegiate Trophy Tournament, January 27, in Manheim Pennsylvania.
