NEW YORK -- The Columbia lacrosse team (3-3) dropped an Ivy League contest against Cornell on Saturday afternoon at Robert K. Kraft Field. The Big Red led wire-to-wire, coming away with a 13-6 victory to improve to 5-1 on the season and remain undefeated in Ivy play (2-0).

Dani Falcone each had two goals to lead the way for the Lions. First-years
Cordelia Flemming and
Annalisa Massaro accounted for the Lions' other two goals on the afternoon
Cornell opened the game on fire, scoring five unanswered goals over the first 20 minutes of play. The Lions' first goal came at the 7:29 mark of the second quarter, when Messner found the back of the net on a free-position attempt.
The Big Red looked to be closing the first half on a 3-0 run, but Columbia put a stop to it when
Ellie Taylor found Massaro in front of the net and she scored with just 15 seconds left in the period. Cornell took an 8-2 lead into halftime.
Columbia scored four times in the second half, but it wouldn't be enough as the Big Red held on to win 13-6.
Goalkeeper
Ella Sangree had 8 saves for the Lions. Messner and Adèle Swanson each had two caused turnovers to lead Columbia, and Swanson added a team-leading three draw controls. six Lions had two ground balls each.
The Lions will have a quick turn around, hosting William & Mary for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, March 14 at 1 p.m at Kraft Field.
