SOFTBALL
The Lions got Ivy League play started last weekend by taking two out of three games against Brown. Columbia showed off some power hitting as the Lions hit three home runs in the series, including first-year
Sarah Mikami's walk-off two-run homer to win the series finale Sunday. Columbia will head up the road for a midweek matchup against Manhattan before jumping back into Ivy League action this weekend. First pitch against Manhattan is set for 4 p.m. at Gaelic Park. The Lions will now play a doubleheader at Yale Friday starting at 12:30 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader was moved to Friday due to rain in the forecast this weekend. The Lions will wrap up the series with a 12:30 p.m. game on Sunday.
TRACK & FIELD
The Lions kick off the outdoor portion of their schedule this weekend, and will be sending student-athletes to compete in two different events. The festivities begin with the Raleigh Relays on Thursday, March 23, hosted by NC State in North Carolina. In addition, the Lions will also be participating in the Monmouth Invitational, which will begin on Friday, March 24. Columbia wrapped up its indoor season just a couple weeks ago with the Ivy League Indoor Heps and ECAC Championships, and will be looking to build off of some great performances that capped a solid indoor season. Highlights came from
Victoria Patterson and
Justin O'Toole, who combined for three Ivy League Championships.
