Monmouth Invitational Results Raleigh Relays Results

Student-Athletes compete in Monmouth Invitational & Raleigh Relays this weekend

NEW YORK – After completing a solid indoor campaign a few weeks ago at the Ivy League Indoor Heps, the track & field program began its 2023 outdoor season over this past weekend. The Lions sent student-athletes to compete in the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina as well as the Monmouth Invitational in West Long Branch, New Jersey, and Columbia had some great performances to kick off the year.

The Lions dominated at the Monmouth Invitational on Saturday, winning seven events in the team's first meet of the outdoor campaign. On the women's side, the highlight of the competition came in the high jump, where sisters Julia and Anna Jordahl-Henry finished in first and second place, respectively, with scores of 1.76m and 1.73m. On the men's side, the highlight of the afternoon came in the 200m run, where Devon Davey took first place with a time of 21.40, while Haydn Brotschi took third with a time of 21.63.

Other winners on the women's side were Amara Onyeukwu in the 200m run (24.75), Sydney Goldson in the 400m run (55.72), Tess Darnell in the 400m hurdles (1:03.35), and Jada Mia Puryear in the Discus Throw (41.71m). Yoosang Kim won the Shot Put for the men with a mark of 16.46m. Will O'Brien took second in the Pole Vault with a mark of 4.85m.

Columbia's highest finish at the Raleigh Relays this weekend came from Phoebe Anderson, who took sixth place in the 5000m run with a time of 15:44.97. The Lions also had a pair of ninth place finishes in the event, as Mary Caroline Heinen clocked in at 35:04.90 in the 10,000m run and Nikki Vanasse clocked in at 4:17.06 in the 1,500m run.

Next weekend, the Lions will return to action at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Virginia. The event will kick off the morning of Friday, March 31.
