NEW YORK – The Columbia women's basketball team (27-5, 12-2 Ivy) learned it will be traveling to take on Bowling Green (31-6, 14-4 MAC) in the Fab Four of the Postseason WNIT. The national semifinal will be played on Wednesday inside BGSU's Stroh Center at 6 p.m. ET.
Columbia is the first team in Ivy League history to reach this stage of the tournament. Last season, the Lions were the first Ivy team to reach the national quarterfinals. Their 27 wins on the 2022-23 campaign are a program record, making head coach
Megan Griffith's team a combined 52-12 (.813) over the course of the last two seasons, which is the best two-year stretch in the 38-year history of the program.
The Lions reached the Fab Four by defeating NEC Regular Season Champion Fairleigh Dickinson, Fordham, Syracuse and Harvard in succession. All four of those games were played on Columbia's home court. Entering the postseason, Columbia was one of five teams in the country to win 13 road games. Another one of those five teams is Bowling Green.
The Falcons reached the Fab Four with victories against Liberty, Green Bay, Memphis and Florida. Three of their four WNIT victories came at home with the lone road win coming at Green Bay, 69-51.
Wednesday's game will mark the first all-time matchup between the two programs.
