HANOVER, N.H. – Columbia secured the doubles point and proceeded to win four of the six singles matches to earn a 5-2 win on the road at Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon. Columbia improves to 16-2 overall for the season and remains perfect in Ivy League play at 3-0.

The Lions got the day started with a strong showing in doubles. Nicolas Kotzen and Max Westphal teamed up at the No. 2 spot to take a 6-2 win against Alejandro Quiles and Alex Knox-Jones. Alex Kotzen and Roko Horvat posted a 6-2 victory at the No. 3 spot over Henry Ren and Guerrero Alvarez to secure the doubles point.

Theo Winegar and Michael Zheng played together in the No. 1 doubles. Their match went unfinished as the duo was trailing 4-5 when Columbia clinched the point.

Columbia rolled through singles action, winning four of the six matches. No. 24 Michael Zheng, Alex Kotzen, Henry Ruger, and Nicolas Kotzen earned wins in their singles matches.

Zheng earned a 6-3, 6-2 win in the No. 1 singles over Guerrero Alvarez. Alex Kotzen took a 6-4, 6-0 win against Waleed Qadir in the No. 4 singles. Henry Ruger posted a 6-4, 6-4 win in the No. 5 spot over Hikaru Takeda. Nicolas Kotzen capped off the singles lineup with a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Knox-Jones in the No. 6 singles.

Dartmouth picked up singles wins at the No. 2 and 3 positions. Roko Horvat dropped a three-set, 1-6, 6-3, 4-6 decision to Ren in the No. 2 singles. Hugo Hashimoto lost a 3-6, 1-6 match to Miles Groom in the No. 3 spot.

UP NEXT

The Lions cap off the weekend road trip with a match at No. 15 Harvard on Sunday. First serve is set for 1 p.m. in the third meeting of the season between the teams. Harvard won the first meeting in the season opener at the ITA Kickoff Classic, 4-2. Columbia won the next match, 4-3 to win the ECAC Championship.
