CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Columbia lacrosse team (3-11) traveled to take on the Harvard Crimson (8-5) on Saturday afternoon. The Crimson came away with a 19-4 victory, as the Lions were denied their first Ivy League win.
Kate Cunning led Columbia's attack with two goals. Gianna Danese and Serena Hong had one goal each.
This game was all Harvard right from the jump. The Crimson scored five unanswered goals in the first quarter, and would not allow the Lion offense to get going. Cunning struck first in the second quarter as Columbia looked to get back on track, but that would be all the Lions could scratch across in the first half. Harvard closed the half on a 7-0 run to take a 12-1 lead into the locker room.
Hong, Danese, and Cunning were each able to find the back of the net in the second half, but it wasn't enough to spark a comeback as the Crimson went on to win 19-4.
Emma Neclerio led Columbia with three saves. Annalisa Massaro and Cordelia Flemming both had a team-high six ground balls. Adèle Swanson had four draw controls.
