
Track & Field Continues Outdoor Season at Penn Relays

Meet begins Thursday evening
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Columbia track & field team continues its outdoor season this weekend, as the team heads to Philadelphia to compete in the Penn Relays. The meet will begin Thursday morning, but Columbia's first event won't be until Thursday at 6:50 p.m.

The Penn Quakers will be hosting the Penn Relays, taking place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The meet begins on Thursday and will run through Saturday night.

LAST TIME OUT
The Lions were busy last weekend, sending student-athletes to compete in three different meets.
Columbia's most success came at the Mark Young Invitational. Kayla-Rae Gordon won the women's hammer throw with a mark of 52.20m. Naomi Toft placed second in the 800m run with a time of 2:15.71. For the men, James Chung won the 100m dash with a time of 10.88s. Simon Skoumal took second in the hammer throw with a mark of 52.97m.
The Lions' highest finish on the men's side in the Virginia Challenge was Devon Davey, who took second in the 400m run with a time of 47.36. On the women's side, Lilly Bradley had the highest finish, taking fourth place in the 5000m run with a time of 17:07.56.
Meanwhile, Columbia sent a group of its top mid and distance runners to compete at the Wake Forest Invitational, where the runners had historic day. Victoria Patterson paced the women with a second place finish in the 3000m steeple chase, clocking in at 9:51.02 which set the record for the best time in the history of Columbia. The men had two second place finishes, with Justin O'Toole taking silver in the 800m run with a program-record time of 1:47.84, and Matt Gatune securing second in the 800m run with a time of 1:50.83. Meanwhile, Phoebe Anderson had the second best time in program history in the 1500m run, clocking in at 4:15.97.
Columbia will look to build upon all these great performances this weekend.

The Lions are sending 21 student-athletes to compete at the Penn Relays this weekend.
For the men, Max Comfere, Jahi Hernandez, and Devon Davey will all be competing in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Chris Balthazar will be the fourth runner in the 4x100m and Haydn Brotschi will be the fourth runner in the 4x400m.
Also for the men, Jacob Ireland and Gavin White will partake in the steeplechase. Will O'Brien and Mason McVey will compete in the pole vault. Eugene Kim, Obiora Okeke, and Patrick Passalacqua will take part in the shot put. Nate Gramentine will participate in the high jump.
Meanwhile, for the women, the group of Kimmi Woods, Alexis Knight, Sydney Goldson, and Amara Onyeukwu will compete in the 4x400m relay. Twins Anna & Julia Jordahl-Henry will participate in the high jump. McKinlee Morris will take part in the shot put. Jada Mia Puryear will participate in the discuss throw.
UP NEXT: The Lions will also be sending some student-athletes to compete at the Yale Springtime Invite on Sunday. Then, next weekend, Columbia will compete at the Ivy League Outdoor Heps.
