No. 11 Men’s Tennis Gets By No. 50 Princeton, 4-3

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 11 Lions lost the doubles point, but responded in a big way to win four singles matches to secure a 4-3 Ivy-opening win on the road against No. 50 Princeton on Friday afternoon.
Princeton took the early 1-0 lead as the Tigers clinched the doubles point with wins in the No. 2 and 3 doubles. The Princeton duo of Will Peters and Alan Kam earned a 7-6 win over Roko Horvat and Max Westphal in the No. 2 spot. Ellis Short and Sebastian Sec posted a 6-4 win against Nicolas Kotzen and Ishaan Ravichander. Columbia earned the win in the top doubles spot as Michael Zheng and Theo Winegar took a 6-3 win over Top Nidunkianzan and Thomas Bosancic.
Max Westphal got singles play started with a 6-1, 6-4 win against Thomas Bosancic in the No. 2 singles to tie the match, 1-1. Hugo Hashimoto then gave the Lions the lead as he posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the No. 3 spot.
Princeton's Nidunjianzan tied the match again, 2-2 as he battled to take a 7-6(7-5), 6-4 win over Zheng in the No. 1 singles. Ravichander answered back with Columbia's third win of the afternoon with a 7-6(7-5), 6-1 win over Filippos Astreinidis in the No. 6 singles. Henry Ruger then clinched the match for the Lions with a 7-5, 6-4 win in the No. 5 spot against Short. Kotzen wrapped up the day with a 6-7(9-11), 1-6 loss to Sec.
