Will return for training camp June 22 to compete for remaining four spots

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Columbia women's basketball guard Abbey Hsu was named a finalist for the 2023 USA Basketball Women's AmeriCup Team, as announced by USA Basketball Sunday night.

Following three days of trials, USA Basketball selected eight athletes to the 2023 USA Women's AmeriCup Team. Hsu was selected as one of five additional finalists who will return for AmeriCup training camp, which begins June 22 in Colorado Springs, to compete for the remaining roster spots. Twenty-two athletes were invited to the AmeriCup Trials.

The eight 2023 USA Women's AmeriCup Team members are Lauren Betts, Rickea Jackson, Raven Johnson, Rayah Marshall, Charisma Osborne, Laila Phelia, Angel Reese and Jewel Spear.

The finalists are Janiah Barker, Makira Cook, Abbey Hsu, Chance Gray and Aneesah Morrow. Additional athletes may be invited to training camp as a part of the selection process. All athletes are selected by the USA Basketball Women's Junior National Team Committee.

The complete 12-member roster will be announced before the team goes to the 2023 FIBA Women's AmeriCup July 1-9 in León, Mexico.

Hsu is coming off a 2022-23 campaign in which she broke the Ivy League's 3-point record for a second-consecutive season. The junior topped the 108 from last season with a record 112 treys, ranking No. 4 in the NCAA in total threes and No. 2 in 3-pointers per game (3.29), trailing only All-American and 2023 AP Women's College Basketball Player of the Year Caitlin Clark. Hsu ranked among the top of the Ivy League in 3-point percentage (.377), led the league and ranked top 50 nationally in points per game (17.8) and was also top 50 in the country in total field goals made (209).

Leading Columbia to its most wins in program history (28-6) and a run to the WNIT Championship Game, Hsu garnered several accolades through her junior campaign. The Parkland, Florida native was named a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention, a semifinalist for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award, voted First Team All-Met and was a unanimous First Team All-Ivy League honoree. She was also named Ivy League Player of the Week a league-best four times through the 2022-23 season.
