The Lions bring in a talented group hailing from 13 states

NEW YORK — Patricia and Shepard Alexander Head Coach of Football Al Bagnoli officially introduced the 2023 Columbia Football incoming class Thursday afternoon.

"It's always an exciting time when we can officially announce our incoming class," said Bagnoli. "Year in and year out, our coaching staff does a tremendous job finding outstanding student-athletes, so kudos to them on bringing in such a talented group. We believe they will fit in well within our culture, give us needed depth and are excited to get them here for training camp in August."

The Columbia Football Class of 2027 consists of 11 All-State honorees, six state champions, 10 players that helped their team to a state final and one Defensive Regional Player of the Year. Additionally, 19 of the incoming student-athletes have leadership experience as a team captain.

On offense and special teams, the Lions added two quarterbacks, one running back, four wide receivers, two tight ends, five offensive linemen and a placekicker. On the other side of the ball, Columbia added five defensive linemen, six defensive backs and four linebackers.

In addition, the Class of 2027 is comprised of student-athletes from 13 different states and one from Washington, D.C. The Lions added five student-athletes from Texas and Georgia to lead the pack, four from Massachusetts and three from New Jersey and Ohio.
