Volleyball Defeated by Buffalo in Queens

Soah Franklin selected to Red Storm Invitational All-Tournament Team

NEW YORK -- The Columbia volleyball team was defeated in straight sets (25-19, 25-9, 25-12) by the Buffalo Bulls in the final game of the Red Storm Invitational on Saturday morning.

The Lions got off to a quick start, taking a 6-5 lead in the first set behind two quick kills from Eva Atkins. Buffalo responded with a 6-0 run to take the lead, and never looked back. The Bulls coasted to win the first set 25-19, and would ride that momentum into the final two sets. The Lions' only other lead in the match came after the first point of the third set, as the Buffalo defense was able to stifle Columbia's offense for the majority of the match and hold them to a .010 hitting percentage. The Bulls would go on to win 3-0.

Atkins paced the Lions with eight kills in the match. Delaney Seaman collected nine digs. Annabel Happ notched eight assists.

Soah Franklin was named to the Red Storm Invitational after a massive performance last night where she tallied a career-high 14.5 points, 10 kills, and seven total blocks. She added three more kills and three total blocks against Buffalo.

The Lions will return to Levien Gymnasium next weekend to host their Ivy League Opener against Cornell. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
