NEW YORK — This year's first edition of Lions on the Road covers events taking place away from home from September 6-10. This includes volleyball, field hockey, men's and women's soccer, and men's golf.
Every week, GoColumbiaLions.com will be using "Lions on the Road" to preview that week's upcoming games and events happening off campus.
VOLLEYBALL
The Lions hit the road for the first time this season, heading upstate to take on the Stony Brook Seawolves on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Columbia kicked off its 2023 season this past weekend with a tournament hosted at Levien. Despite going 0-3, Columbia played a trio of tough opponents and fought hard in all three matches. The Lions had ACC foe Virginia on the brink, before coming up just short in five sets, while Fordham and Quinnipiac both won in straight sets despite the Lions being competitive in just about every game.
Eva Atkins,
Hailee Watts, and
Amanda Holsen each tallied career-high kills marks (Holsen and Atkins did so twice) and
Yooni Park set a new career-high in digs twice over the weekend. The Seawolves head into Wednesday's contest with a 2-4 record, and will be looking to hold off the Lions from securing their first win.
