Squash Falls In Ivy Opener At Princeton

The men’s and women’s teams were both defeated by Princeton Friday
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Columbia men's and women's squash teams were both defeated by Princeton on Friday afternoon in their Ivy League openers. The men's team falls to 4-2 overall, while the women are now 2-4 on the season.
MEN'S RECAP
Paarth Ambani and Adam Goad registered the only wins of the afternoon for No. 6 Columbia as No. 5 Princeton took a 7-2 win over the Lions. Ambani battle from two games down to take a five-game thriller over Zain Ahmed, 8-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-2, 11-6. Goad took a two-game lead and was looking to close out the win before Federico Sosa came back to even the match and force a fifth game. Goad bounced back to take the fifth game in dominating fashion, 11-1 to secure the win.
The Lions lost three other matches in five sets, which proved critical in Princeton's win. Harold Castiaux fought back from two games down to force a fifth game that he lost to Hollis Robertson. Jacob Bulbulia went back and forth with Avi Agarwal, but Agarwal pulled away in the fifth game to take the win. Rutvik Rau stormed out to a two-game lead before dropping three straight games in the loss to Gordon Lam.
WOMEN'S RECAP
Simmi Chan notched the lone victory of the day for the No. 10 Columbia in the 8-1 loss to No. 3 Princeton. Chan defeated Zeina Zein, 11-8, 11-3, 11-13, 11-9 for her sixth consecutive win this season.
Aleeza Khan won the first game in her match against India Stephenson before take a 2-1 lead after three games. Stephenson battled back to win the last two games and clinch the victory. Sarah Cao won the first game in her match against Emma Trauber, but Trauber answered by winning the next three games to earn the win.
UP NEXT
Both teams return home to host Penn on Sunday at SL Green Streetsquash. On the men's side, Penn is ranked No. 1. The Penn women's team is ranked No. 4. Action will begin Sunday at 1 p.m.
