Hsu Collects 10th Career Ivy League Player of the Week Award

All-time scorer ties for the most Ivy POTW selections in program history

PRINCETON, N.J. – Columbia women's basketball senior guard Abbey Hsu has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week for games played December 26 – January 1. The league office announced its weekly honorees, as selected by appointed media representatives, on Tuesday.

This is Hsu's 10th career Ivy League Player of the Week selection, matching her with Judie Lomax '10BC and Camille Zimmerman '18CC for the most in program history. Hsu is the 11th player in league history to earn 10 such awards and the latest since Princeton's Bella Alarie (2017-20).

Hsu averaged 24.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 1.5 assists and a block across a pair of road wins in Northern California last week. She shot 54.5 percent (18-33) from the field and hit five threes, upping her league-record career total to 321. She began the trip with a season-high 31 points (12-19 FG) and a career-high five steals, also tacking on seven rebounds, to will the Lions to a, 74-67, victory at San Francisco. Three days later, the Parkland, Florida native went for 17 points, eight boards and three assists to help her team to an early New Year's Eve celebration, 93-75, over Pacific.

Named to the John R. Wooden Award Women's Preseason Top 50 Watch List, as well as the Jersey Mike's Naismith Women's Player of the Year Watch List, Hsu wrapped up non-conference play as the 11th-leading scorer in the country. The 5-11 guard averages an Ivy League-best 21.9 points per game, while also ranking No. 9 in the NCAA in total points (285), No. 11 in total field goals made (107), top 30 in total threes made (36) and No. 35 in threes made per game (2.77). She leads the Ivy League in all of the aforementioned categories, is top five in the Ivies in rebounding (7.2), as well as top 10 in steals (1.6) and blocks (0.8).

With exactly 1,800 career points, Hsu climbed into sole possession of second place on the Columbia basketball all-time scoring list (men's and women's combined), trailing only Zimmerman's record of 1,973. She ranks 12th in Ivy League women's basketball history and is 18 points away from becoming one of the league's top 10 all-time scorers. The three-time All-Ivy selection is also No. 22 among active NCAA Div. I players in career points, No. 14 in scoring average (17.0), No. 4 in total threes (321) and No. 2 in threes made per game (3.03).

Cecelia Collins was named to this week's Ivy League Honor Roll. The junior transfer from Bucknell averaged 18.5 points, 4.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds while connecting at 68.4 percent (13-19) across the two West Coast wins. Collins scored a career-high 28 points on Sunday against the Tigers.

Winners of seven straight, Columbia (9-4) begins its Ivy League title defense on Saturday with a home tilt against Penn (8-5). The game's opening tip is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
