Women's Swimming and Diving Closes Regular Season Against Dartmouth

Lions will host senior day prior to the meet at 10:50 a.m.
NEW YORK — The Columbia women's swimming and diving team is set to close out the 2023-24 regular season on Saturday with an Ivy League meet against the Dartmouth Big Green at Uris Natatorium. The competition is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
SPECIAL EVENTS
The Lions will be honoring their group of nine seniors prior to the meet. This includes Georgia Young. Aziza Ganihanova, Allegra Walker, Emma Babashak, Aniston Eyre, Alice Diakova, Callie Breiter, Jazlynn Pak, and Mia Saenger.
In addition, this is Columbia's Alumni Homecoming meet. Any former Lions are welcome to join the women's swimming and diving team at Uris for Saturday's festivities.
LAST TIME OUT
Columbia's last meet came against Princeton in New Jersey on January 19. The Tigers emerged victorious, winning by a score of 202-98.
Columbia's divers showed up in a big way, with the star of the show being Alice Diakova. She came away with a victory in the 3m, notching a score of 298.88. Chloe Leung (284.10) and Macy Pine (281.40), placed second and third, respectively, in the event. Meanwhile on the 1m boards, Pine took second place with a score of 298.58. Diakova was right behind her in third place with a score of 284.93.
As for the swimmers, the Lions had multiple second place finishers. This included Mia Avansino, who grabbed second in the 200-free with a time of 1:51.93, and Aziza Ganihanova, who placed second in the 100-fly with a time of 54.81.

SCOUTING DARTMOUTH
The Big Green enter Saturday's meet with a 2-7 overall record, but an 0-6 record in the Ivy League. Most recently, Dartmouth was defeated by Yale, 226-74.
Last season, the Big Green went 1-9 overall with an 0-7 record in the Ivy League. Dartmouth and Columbia faced off in January last year, with the Lions coming out on top 197-78. The Big Green went on to finish eighth at the Ivy League Championships.
Columbia has won the last 15 meetings with Dartmouth, dating back to 2005.
ON DECK
The Lions will begin preparations for the Ivy League Championships which will take place from February 21-24 in Providence, Rhode Island.
